Your insurance went up: your options
Florida premiums depend mostly on the roof, wind protection and flood zone. Some of that you can change.
- A wind mitigation inspection documents your roof straps, shutters and roof shape. Florida insurers must offer discounts for those features.
- Citizens Property Insurance is the state-backed insurer for people who can't find coverage at a fair price elsewhere. Who qualifies depends on the private offers you get.
- Flood is a separate policy; a homeowners policy doesn't cover it. Every home here shows its flood zone.
- If you're thinking of moving, newer homes built to today's Florida Building Code, and homes outside flood zones, usually cost less to insure. Every home here shows an insurance estimate.
